But thankfully, with a few health precautions, most of these diseases and ailments can be avoided. The following are some of the main health precautions to take during the onset of monsoons:

1. Drink a lot of water
The first and most important tip to follow during the onset of monsoons is to make it a point to drink a lot of water. During the rainy season, sweat doesn’t evaporate easily and quickly and thus the body is unable to release the heat. Drinking adequate amounts of water will help to avoid this and also flushes out toxins from the body, thus preventing many diseases.

2. Eat lots of fruits and fresh vegetables
Another health precaution to take during monsoons is to eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables help us to meet the vitamin and mineral requirement and thus prevent us from suffering from various health ailments. It is important to wash the fruits and vegetables before consumption.

3. Stick to homemade food, avoid street foods
During the onset of monsoons as well as during the rainy season, it is very important to avoid street food as much as possible. Street foods are likely to contain bacteria during rainy season and can cause infections and diseases. 6. Protect yourself from dirty water

8. Don’t touch your face
Our fingers and hands can contain bacteria during the rainy season and thus it is advisable to avoid touching your face to avoid the bacteria from coming in contact with your eyes, mouth and nose etc. Resist the urge to scratch your eyes or face and keep a clean napkin or handkerchief close to you.
